Formed in 1954, the Ipswich and District Branch (no. 19) of the British Horological Institute has an active membership covering the whole of East Anglia. The Branch holds INDOOR MEETINGS on the fourth Tuesday of each month from February to June and from September to November in the well-appointed premises of St. Mary's Church Hall, Bramford, Ipswich, IP8 4AT. There are usually VISITS AND TOURS in July and August and an ANNUAL DINNER in January.

Indoor meetings  include lectures, demonstrations, sales and open evenings where members can show their latest projects; buy and sell items; discuss problems and share ideas. Books from our extensive BRANCH LIBRARY are available for members to borrow free of charge. A full catalogue of books can be downloaded.

Members are regularly involved at BHI Headquarters and contribute articles and branch reports to the Horological Journal.

We encourage those attending branch meetings to become members of the British Horological Institute, but visitors are always welcome.

In August 2004, to celebrate our 50th. anniversary, we mounted an exhibition entitled "ClockWatching" at Ipswich Corn Exchange on August 3-7, 2004. We exhibited a number of items at the BHI 150th Anniversary Exhibition in 2008, then at Tymperleys Museum in Colchester.

We are always looking for new members, and we welcome amateurs and professionals alike. Contact the Secretary here.
